Decorative Portuguese Oxen Yoke. An intricately carved yoke used to put across shoulders of oxen when they are paraded for festive occasions in Portugal – Christian festivals in this predominantly Catholic Country where the family will all travel on the cart drawn by bullocks . As you can see from the photograph the yoke has been quite intricately carved and apart from the legs seems to be carved from just one piece of wood. Not a light item. I believe but not 100% certain that the wood is Chestnut.
As to what it can be used for? Who knows? I would think it would look good in a trendy cafe or Bar.
