Antique Davenport Ewer circa 1850’s -beautiful in great condition with only a little fading on one side of the Damask Rose transfer ware Ewer (or Jug). Davenport pottery started back in 1766 by John Davenport and ten continued on by his sons until 1887. The color of the Roses I think is called Flown Blue and the Damask Rose is one of those very old varieties.
This is a substantial ewer with open work rim and a good big belly – it stands at 28cm tall and 16cm across at the widest.
It is wonderful that a jug or ewer of this quality is still with us in such great condition and I think is worth every dollar I am asking for it. There is a matching bowl which the ewer sits in is cracked but still hold s together ok and this is in the price.
