Antique Furnishings

Of me and what it is all about.

Of me and what it is all about.

After 30 plus years in the corporate world I left, I resigned, I was tired of it and I guess it was tired of me, so I purchased a Fern Nursery. Why? I have no sensible answer to that question other than I liked plants and it seemed a challenging but risky and a bit of a scary venture to take on – and so it proved. Ask my Wife!

After nearly 13 years during which I learnt heaps about ferns and other plants I sold it to a nice man who has a passion and interest in New Zealand native fauna so it’s gone to a good home.

I ostensibly retired and we went and lived in Barcelona for 3 months and that’s where this new venture began and as a new boy on the block the risky, scary and challenging times start over again.

I love old woods (and other old stuff including my wife) and the patina and colours and sometimes smells they throw at you make for interesting ambitions and hence my business is mostly about furnishings that befit homes or commercial establishments that need that unique piece(s).

WHERE AM I? 42 SEDDON STREET WAIHI (Martha House so named after the Martha Mine)  – that’s the main street in Waihi township, opposite the Town Hall. Opening hours are 10 am to 3 pm Wednesday to Saturday over the Winter months then from 10 to 4pm from 1st September to 31st May.
